Why on a web site that is all about 3 gee enthiuist show a car being beat by pt cruisers and crap I dont now think its kind of pointless biggest waist of bandwith on this site if you ask me car looks like it is falling apart obviously not running at its peak

That's the problem.
The guy change too early gears??? he must gear shift at 6250rpm-6500rpm and must go the car for a good service.
The car looks to be in bad condition.

I'm fairly certain that's not the stock carb. It looks like a weber DFEV, but its hard to tell from the low quality video.

Did you fix the coolant leak... it looked like the heater hose was going.

it was taped with black electrical tape. But regardless. a webber carb with the stock compression is not gonan get you much even paced against a rio. from the way the car shifted, it sounded like the clutch was not gripping. it did not look or sound like the tire was slipping tho.

i dont think the clutch was a problem. i think he had way to many people in the car!! like a least four people.
