    homemade gauge bezel

Ive been working on a custom bezel for my car. I was inspired by the acura rsx. basicly its a stock accordbezel with some crome rings where the gauges go. I have yet to try and install it so hopefully it will fit and fit well. I took the pictures of the bezel with the white gauges laying underneath just to see how it might look in the car.

hey that a neat mod..where are those rings from. that look would look hot with the carbon fiber bezel they sell on ebay, but props for a differnt approach to our ever so fading aftermaket options..

well I already have enough cf trim in my car thats wy I didnt go for that, although it would look nice. The rings are for a bezel for a 4th gen cord that i cut and reshaped to fit. epoxy the rings to the bezel and voila!

and the bezel is flat black. I painted it so but the flash makes it look faded

I might try that with some aluminum rings, hmm, they would look good with the black faces too.

    Re: homemade gauge bezel

well i got it put together for the most part but the rings touch the clear plastic front. which kinda caused the bezel to shift up slightly which you can kind tell when you look at the gauges.

in hindsight it would have been much easier to buy a bezel and add the rings rather than cutting and shaping a stock bezel to fit. Hopefully I'll have some night pictures soon but in the meantime here you go.

Sweet... I think I might do that but I'm trying for orginal stuff in my car... I might change my mind though cause I already screwed up by putting after market pedals and when I got the car, the owner put in a after market shifter... We'll see what the wife says...lol

Beautiful Job my friend. Your hatch is superific! Are the chrome thingys the same size in diameter as ours? Did you have to cut them circumferancewise?

    Re: homemade gauge bezel

well as far as the how to heres pretty much how it went.

bought a bezel for the 90-93 accords

cut the chrome rings and bent them in to be smaller with my hands( the 90-93 gauges are bigger)

I painted the bezel flat black

got me some epoxy and put the rings on the bezel with some weight on em so the rings would be held in place on the bezel

and that was pretty much it. I would definately buy a premade bezel frst rather than make one out of a stock bezel.

I used the procarparts gauges and painted the needed flourescent red/orange.

I added a black light to the top front of the gauge cluster enclosure, where the stock two bulbs are that light up the front of the gauges. so hopefully the black light will make the needles appear to be lit at night.

I'm going to see if I can get some night pics with the gauges lit up this weekend.
