My new toy: 90 teg drag car

I acquired the below piece of teg from a friend of mine. This was his drag car for the last year or so, turning a 14.8 N/A and 13.9 on a 55 shot ZEX. Since he has to get his Prelude fixed, and I wanted something new to play with, it was a convenient situation.

The owner before him rebuilt the engine about 50k mi. ago, and did the bondo work you see in the below pictures. There is a LOT of bondo in the rear.

Yeah, there is some serious damage to the rear quarters - previous accident or some such I guess, don't know. I spent Saturday afternoon after getting the car seeing what I could do to straighten that rear quarter. I manged to get the corner and the hatch to align a lot better, but there is too much metal damage to do a complete job.

    Mods:

Rebuilt B18a w/ B18b complete head (both bone stock)
    S1 B16a SiR tranny
Clutchmasters 8lb flywheel w/ steel face
    Clutchmasters stage 3 clutch
    Ported intake manifold
    Bored throttle body
B&M fuel pressure regulator and gauge
    NGK wires and plugs
    Mystery 4-2-1 header
    Test pipe
    Nopi #1 stainless shiny exhaust
    Nopi #1 coilovers
    Tokico Illumina shocks
    Slotted and drilled rotors
    HX rims
    BF Goodrich drag radials
    Injen intake
    Oil pressure / A/F / volt gauges
    Pilot steering wheel
    Gutted interior
    Gutted A/C and powersteering

There is also the usual new radiator, thin fan, new axles and hoses, etc, etc.

I am not going to bother replacing the shell - it is a drag car. I am going to fix what little will be needed to make the rear corners mostly good looking, and flat black the whole car. I also plan to get fiberglass fenders and hood, and lexan rear hatch and side windows; little more less weight don't hurt.

    That's it.

Purty good. I'm sure your car can spank my car.

And Kevin, you can't get quarter panels cannot be replaced unless you're very serious.

It's not much to look at, but it runs impressive quarters, I'll give oyu that. Are you going to make it look good, or just drag it like the previous owner?

    That's definetly a gutted interior!

Remove the passenger headlight for a better airflow during the race!

Thanks for the compliments. Yeah, it is very much a mechanics special. I do plan to replace the quarter panel with part from a junk yard; most of the under structure is still good, so welding on a piece of skin shouldn't be hard.

Plans? Well, race season is over here, so next year is being planned. By then it'll have lexan rear windows and hatch glass, fiberglass fenders and hood, MSD SCI+ ignition, and I plan to put a ZEX kit back on it; the previous owner kept it for his Prelude.

As to the look, after I get the rear quarter taken care of I'm going to flat black the whole car - nothing finer' than primer'.

where did you get those guages that are mounted on the dash? It looks like it would be a good place to mount some on the 3gee.

Those type of "under the dash" gauge cluster mounts are very common on old muscle cars (in fact I have three under the dash of my 75 malibu, but only two are hooked up) to add engine gauges w/o tearing apart your dash. They would look and work fine on any car but the problem with them is that they back has no cover so on top of the dash you would just see the backs of gauges and all of the wires/tubes coming out of them, they are used below the dash so you don't have to cut a hole in your dash, so they don't block your visibility, and to easily hide the cluster of wires protruding from them. You can get those type of gauge mounts from JC Whitney for the cheapest and from Summit and Jegs for a bit more. JC Whitney sells three gauges and the mount for under $50, but they are all analog gauges and the accuracy is questionable.

hahhahahahah that is such a hidious body job! Come on when that thing hits a hard bump that crap is all going to crack and fall out. Has your friend ever heard of a welder and sheet metal? That's how you do body work, then you use bondo to blend it all in. You don't use bondo to make panels

Oh well I have always like those integras.

you could probably do just fine with a nice manifold and a T3 60 trim turbo at 10psi... thatll get you deep into the 13s without spray

OK, wow, talk about a return from the dead. Guess I'll update anyway:

No nothing new. My Accord took a shit on me, so I had to lisence the Integra for normal driving. Looks haven't changed at all LOL.

I got a set of doorpanels and a center console for the interior, and put a blower motor in it for some heat. That is all I have done to the cart except maintenace.

Mods: Eh, not doing anything. RI'm going to put a 75-125 shot kit and run nothing but 110 octane through it. The engine blows? I got another; LS's are cheap here. By then, my Prelude will be finished and I can drive it for the summer. A/C is a good thing when wearing office clothes.

Body work: not doing a damn thing to it. Yeah, it is ugly, but who cares; it goes forward in a straight line, not to beauty contests. I am thinking of cutting the bad shite out on the drivers side, putting some tin behind it and using marine bondo to make it look normal again, but that is it, LOL. If I even consider doing that at any rate; need some place for the dump tube from the nitrous to go out.

Future: hmmm, good question. I thought about a turbo kit, but too much trouble - nitrous is easy to get here, and this is a low buck toy, nothing serious. I am considering a p30 slug build LS with Crower 404s for some fun - torque monster and easy to assemble cheap. LSVTEC? Hmmmm, don't know.

Anyway, there it is. I'll see if I can get some new pics up come drag day when the new kit is on it.
