I talk to the smog referee friday he said as long as it comes out of a honda accord Efi that it will be fine but you half to use all the smog that came on your motor with your accord .Then he told me if i had a problem with a shop when i go to smog it just go to them and thay will put a sticker saying it ok to have this motor. That why i got the motor.I did my home work

better watching out for cops CT, or at least wear baggy pants, knowing you probably pull one off.

my book says the Bt has 110hp @5500rpm and the A20A3 120hp@5800rpm and the Bt 8.1compression and the A20A3 has 9.1 compression. With the compression lower and 3 rpm less that could be the 10hp Difference.

    86 lxi's = BT 110hp, 114tq
    87 lxi's = A20A3 110hp, 114tq
    88-89 lxi's = A20A3 122hp, 114tq.

if i'm not mistaken, sorry if i am.

actually no...for pre-obd cars there is no such thing as a plug for our cars. we just get the sniffer test and the dyno..but there is now a visual test too where they check for any modifications to anything. I assume if Tom just gets the engine block really dirty where the engine code stamp is, he should pass visual with no problems (minus all the mods)

For OBD-1 and OBD-2 they plug into the ECU.

California has a lot of laws involving modifications to cars. I hate it, and thats probably why if I do have parts on my car they are C.A.R.B. legal.

Good luck tom, I hope you have fun with it. Free is good nonetheless.

California smog laws can kiss my ( ! ) ever year they make it harder for us to pass our cars And now for the last two Here they have a mobile smog Test that thay setup any where thay want and if you run in to it you half to test or thay will impound your car and if your modified or missing smog your impound now that's BS and they have the cop's there for this .California has gone nuts on the smog law's
