Tore Foam!

i was tightening some screws on my speakers and the screwdriver slipped and tore a little bit of the outside foam. i have really high speakers with NO bass, will this effect any of the sound?

get some loctite contact cement and repair it using that

it stays pliable, and forms a very good bond

but will it effect sound quality? oh yeah, the boxes the speakers came in came with this bag of black sticky things, they look like patches or something, would those be good for my situation? my friend told me they might be used for holding the grills down.

that's for use between the speaker and the car frome, if desired, of like he said, could be for the grilles... i didn't notice a sound difference when i did this with my infinitys... at least nothing that i noticed

LMAO, that shit happend to me one time when i was installing a 12 into a bandpass. stock a damn phillips right through that sucker. boy i was pissed, $150 pissed down the drain. i glued it with some gorilla snott and sold it on ebay

its not the actual bass you have to worry about, but how much the speaker actually moves. Go to home depot and get some silicone in a tube, trust me it be the best thing you can do. Plus it drys clear so you wont hardly even be able to tell you ruptured it.

hey i have some silicone in my car called SEAL ALL it works good for my leaking sunroof. will this be good or should i leave it like it is? i think putting silicone on the speaker will affect sound worse , but i dont know why..

it wont, and even if you find that it does, you would be able to peel it off if you do it right. the only thing you could do is try.

no! that seal all would hold the speaker and you won't noticed anything really, just get some black solicone sealer, like 88accord said.
that's works it not only seal but it's flexable.

hmm i'm going to use that on the stock speaker's.

well, would sealing it even be worth it? like you said, i wont hear a diff or it will sound the same so is it even worth trying? im just lazy.

is it a tweeter, or a mid range or a sub???

Mid range. but with no bass just really high. i dont know the specs there on the box in my car.

ok i guess ill try it, thanks. cuz i just remembered one day i was blasting my stereo, took the grills off the rear speakers and they were moving up and down so i guess they do need some silicone.

because i got some 6.5's and i know the foam won't hold when i put the radio in, so i figured i should have some silicone, i hope i do . . . . . ..
