There are 3 things that are most important in life....eating, sleeping, and racing.
Take out your old engine, put in the H22, take an arc welder and weld the engine right to the firewall. You can weld the A20 tranny to the H22. Then you don't need custom axles. For Vtec, you just wire a couple wires to a light switch and when you want to go fast, flick it to the on position.

Sounds like a good plan to me...Originally posted by YK86

LOL!!!!...hmm..if i welded it..then i would save myself the money for the mounts...then i could run twin turbo H22!!!! hehehhee

ppfffffttttt you are all doing it the hard way.
All you have to do is scratch out the A20 and engrave H22 on the little plate that has the engine code and serial number.
And for turbo and NOS, you just have to slap on some turbo stickers or emblems, and put a red button or switch somewhere on your dash marked NOS.
Same goes for VTEC, you just need a few stickers or badges

A miracle.
Lil' imagination.
Definately cash.
P.$. Anything i$ po$$ible...
stickers do make u go fast
does anyone make mounts for the h22 to be in our cars?
i think place racing does make mounts for our cars.
The place racing mounts are only for B-series engines not the H22. If you want to do the H22 it will cost some money and a lot of time. Some has done it and seems to be happy with it but im sure he spent a bit of time doing the install.
eeks. sorry for the misinformation. It kinda felt weird when i wrote it down too. cause in one of those sites it said that getting a h22 was a pain in the ass cause its whole mounting is freaked up. You gotta get the mounts custom made right? besides why get h22 just for its hp when u can get a decent b series or even a B20 that would go in without any mods if we could find one :p
Place Racing DOES carry H22a Mounts. I was talking with them a while back and they told me that h22a mounts for the 3g accord are about $643. But, they do not carry the hydro to cable clutch conversion anymore. H22a's also cost about a grand more than a b16a... but it has 45lbs more torque and 40 more hp. If you got the $$ go for it. 2954lb Ludes run 15.1 in the quarter stock. Imagine that power in a 2600lb 3rd gen. 14's are in easy reach.

your looking at about $3000 for a complete swap kit which is engine, tranny, ecu, wiring harness, axles, shift linkage, and all the engine accesories for the H22A....
and about $650 for the mounts according to LxiCoupe.. so just to be safe thats $4000 for the parts...
that means i need $4000... anyone wanna help??
akuma, GoMotors quoted me $2600 for h22a with trans and ecu.
$1100 for b16. Then for the h22 you'll still need that clutch conversion, axles, harness and a lot of time !! I wish i had the dough to do it.
People are always talking about how the h22 is too heavy and will throw off the suspension... well there is a civic hatchback here that runs 13's all motor on an h22 and then drives gramma to Wal-mart. If it really matters then beef up the suspension right??
I'm planning on doing the H22 swap when I come home from a 3 month work streak up in alaska. I've got a friend who is a master machiner, so he'll work the engine mounts up for me. The rest of the work will all get taken care of. I just need to know what axles, tranny, all that stuff, that I may not get with the swap kit are needed to make the transfer work. Any help would rule. Thanks. Later. Lockleaf.
parts for this swap will run around $4k and that it? i wonder how much would a professional installation run? and body got the labor quouted on one of these jobs?
i think one of the quotes to have a shop do it was around $5,500. and thats for a stock h22a conversion. If you got the $$ go for it
hmm the guy just told me $1200 for labor. that 5000 you are talking about, is that parts and labor? any who, is $1200 to much for labor?

that 5500$ includes the engine right? lol

i got quoted 900 on the labor part of it. I found a website called www.jdmclub.com that has the full kits for 2300 and up. I'm waiting for a response from them about a 3g kit. once i know what's up i'll let you guys know. later. lockleaf
Are you serious here? I'm not sure if you're jokin' or not....
You just have to weld one mount or all of em'? Wouldn't things vibrate like crazy if you welded directly on? no mount? what causes Vtec to kick in anyways? why would it have to be on a switch? curious since I have an h22 sitting outside my door but I have no clue as to how to install it... heh....... trying to do it as cheap as possible since I didn't have to pay for the complete prelude that the motor came in........ any suggestions?

This is a nutty swap, probably great for power but terrible for price. The B16 is a well-known swap and can be done for cheaper but then again you don't get the same torque and less hp out of the box.
VTEC knows when to switch on if you wire up the vtec to your stock computer. Place Racing has a kit that allows you to do this. VTEC has some electronics that watch the rpms and when you hit a preset rpm the VTEC cam solenoid triggers the switchover. I think Place's kit is a piggyback for your standard 3g computer that has the rpm VTEC send. There are also 2 extra wires besides the solenoid...VTEC oil pressure and VTEC ground. I looked at HASport but their site sucks ass and unfortunately Place Racing is taking forever to rebuild their site.
All in all I think the f20B is a badass engine that's neglected (plus it's small and pretty). I wonder if it's a contender for a new swap. Stats I've found are 200hp, with an optional LSD. Oh and there are turbos and superchargers available. Only thing that sucks is it's japan-only. Have a look here http://www.jdmhondaparts.com/engines.htm .The guys on this forum http://www.h22a.org/phpBB/viewtopic....217&forum=4&23 are going crazy about it right now

the reason I ask about the H22 is that I have one sitting right here at my disposal. I can chose between the 94 or 95 lude' complete car. problem is, is that my car is carb'd so to do the conversin it adds more complexity in that I have to bump it up to efi specs and then do the swap......
