I warm the car up everytime I use it. It will idle itself down, then it turns off. Lately, when or before I come to a stop the car turns off. What could be wrong? It has also been kind of bogging down. thx![]()

your carburator needs to be cleaned.
Alex.
I will give that a try this weekend. Do I just use the spray cleaner?Originally Posted by shepherd79
I had been told before that I probably have a vacuum leak. Where do I begin to look for it? thanks!
And the carb gasket.
Check for signs of brittle rubber vacuum lines
and gaskets on the carb that might seem to be weeping.
Good luck
Phil
adjust the idle for a quick fix, it's a black knob on the back of the carb. It is probably a vacuum related leak, those screws don't usually go out of adjustment, they are hard to turn. Also maybe play with the mixture screw to compensate, but if you have a leak you will only be compensating for it. at an idle of 800 or more RPM you should read vacuum of at least 20 inches

I'd also highly recommend replacing those fuel filters. I had the same problem and after cleaning the carb and having zero vaccum leaks I replaced the fuel filters. It ran awesome after that and didn't even have to warm up the next day. Of course, that was the last time I started it; It got smashed on the way to pick the FI's cyl head.
Good luck man
