do you have a 5 spd? cause if you do it sounds like it's time for a new clutch.

My car does something wierd and a friend of mine said it's the tranny going out but I think it's just the clutch.

At WOT, at around 5K, the car lags and it won't let me go any faster until I shift. It does this in first, and second...not sure if it does it in any other gear because I don't have enough space to get it up that fast back here on this property...and I have no idea of the condition of the tranny fluid yet...

    Any ideas?

That's the clutch though right? I've never owned a 5-speed so I'm not sure...

how hard have you used the clutch. if you run the car hard then its gonna wear faster than those people who can go 100 to 150,000 miles without replacing it. but just as new as your clutch is you can ruin it just as fast. i know that i was street racin one night on a new clutch and went from second to third(or else it felt like third)ended bein first at 55 mph. let out on the clutch to get back in to it and instead of goin faster the engine went faster. yeah try 8500 rpm. well needless to say it didnt hurt the engine but the clutch. nothing!!! i stopped at a gas station(more like drifted to)
got out and all i could smell was burned up clutch. it wouldnt go into gear. i thought it was just hot. so i let it cool. a half hour went by and still nuthin. i had to adjust it all the way out. then the next day i had to drive 6 hours home from virginia beach. got home, tore it apart and nothin on the flywheel side. full tank of gas: $22.00, new clutch: $95, feeling after losing race due to clutch failure: priceless!!!!

if you dont have serious serious engine mods (ie Turbo or Nitrous) a stock clutch will be just fine. I have a dual diaphram 6 puck sprung clutch and love it to death, but it has a VERY HEAVY clutch pedal

yo either you need a new clutch or it needs adjustment (tighten the cable up a bit)

as for the car not accelerating till you switched, that is usually fuel starvation. First replace your filters, then your pump if no difference. Your car will feel 2x faster (only to your pants, the dyno will still laugh at you :P)

you need to know that these stock cluths hate racing and also never do a burnout with these clutchs. Do not lauch hard with these either. Get a stage 1 or stage two clutch from ACT.

Did u just say u want a three puck clutch? Shit even the guys pushing more than twice the power on their motors use a 6 puch. U will bust your head before u bust ur clutch using a 3 puck. Anywho, just get a stage 2 clutch from ACT if u are into 'wanna be a fast car'.

heard nothing but bad stuff about them. Even tho they got a drag civic sponsored by them. But ACT has proven its name over and over again and for the price, i would just get them.

i'll put in my vote for ACT clutches, as well. i've got their heavy duty plate with the street disc. it's very drivable, and no slippage even when you pop it from 1st to 2nd at 6500rpm. car just jerks forward like someone rear-ended you

So you think the Stage I(street) would be a better choice?

I drive somewhat fast, I like standing on the gas pedal, occasional racing, blah blah...

You think it would hold up?

    I've never owned a 5-speed before, so I'm a 5-speed noob.

well get a stage two. for a na they are plenty enough. 6, 4 and 3 puck and steel and copper puck clutches are for racing and are hard to drive on the street.
