    Huge power lag

I just put in my Delta 260 cam and now there is a huge power lag from under 3k, I was wondering if this is from the cam or something different. When ever you are driving and are below 3k and you hit the gas it bogs down real bad then you have to hit the gas even more then it will pick up, so I thought it was the kick down cable tightened it up but it still does it, could it just be the cam¿

careful when tightening the kickdown... it can restrict the movement of the pedal or throttle linkage...

also how much vacuum were you pulling prior to the cam and how much are you pulling now... and what did you set your valve lash to?

I think it might me a vacume prob. I didn't really try hard to reconnect the vacume lines, so I will go back over those, and also I made a plate to go over the EGR valve, that could be sucking in air, so I will see about that.

Thanx alot for the diagram, i fixed the prob., it was either partly the vacume lines hooked up wrong and I had made cover plates for the egr valve, and it was loosing vacume through the plates. So now it runs great, still not alot of power in the low rpms but this is to be expected becuase of the cam.

most definately vacuum lines that arent correctly installed or not connected will do that. i'm sure that isnt the last time we will hear of this kind of problem of power lag. since you've fixed it, hows the power comming on now? does it pull nicely at higher rpms? comparing it to stock. did you get the head tuned or is it still stock? i mean machined.

It pulls soooooooo smoothly and quick after around 2900 rpm, and just keeps on pulling and pulling. It was deffently worth the 69.90 I paid for it. The head has a three angle vavle job, new valves, valve steams, seal, and had it shaved. Next week Im putting my new exhuast and headers on to free up even more power.

well, do you have headers, and full exhaust done or are you riding on stock exhaust system?
if you have stock exhaust system that is your problem. get exhaust done and you will see nice power gains.

Ya, I plan on putting headers and exhuast on next friday if I can get the $$$, but since the only kind I can get is Pacesetter I have a plan. Get the pacesetter geaders strip the paint of and have a guy I know ceramic coat it, and instead of a ball joint just have the muffler shop weld in a flex pipe in place.
