surging from 1000 to 2000 rpms

ok, my damn hatch has a major surging problem, it will never idle lower than 1000 rpm, but will shoot from 1000 to 2000 like a million times before it quits....and sometimes on startup in the cold it will sit at like 2400rpm for a little.....what the hell could this be and how can i fix it?!?!?!?

Is it carbed or fuel injected?

YOu may want to check your coolant level.

do you have a custom intake like a short ram or cold air? If you unplug the vacuum line for the MAP sensor thats on the stock intake, it'll make it surge like that.

It'll idle high when its cold until it warms up then it should go down to a more normal idle

you need to tie in the vacuum lines that are unplugged from the black box on the fire wall to the intake manifold. youre gonna have to get some vacuum hose splicers and some extra tubing
