    The purpose is probably the same "purpose" as installing rims, ground effects, coilovers, etc. People do it to customize their car.

    hey, i have it done to my car, and i got the idea from the car that is int this months lowrider euro, the one named Supersonic. the guy that is featured with that car no longer owns it and it lives in my town, im good friends with the new owner, his name is Matt Kelly. We did it to my trunk but we welded, and all kinds of professional shit, not some shoddy screwing and crap. i'll see if i can get some pics, have no scanner, gotta find a cam.
