rolling fenders...

the how-to link is dead! I just need to get input on how to do this right (without a $300 tool) using a baseball bat!

So, from what i've gathered from other threads...

Tools needed:
-baseball bat
-heat gun

Heat the fender so paint won't crack. Then place baseball bat between tire and topmost area of fender. Then slowly bend fender outwards. All at one time? Then what?

well you want to slowly roll the bat front to back to make the bend even, its kind of a learn as your go thing.

remember the object is to get the lip to press UP, close to the fender...
dont try to bend the whole fender out.. just the lip.
be careful.. cause the paint is reeeal easy to crack.

BTW tokicos + eibach (1" drop) handle sooo good. Just put in some ZE 326 rubbers (195/55/15).

i got 205/50-15 with h&r spring on my sei and got no problems with rubbing

strange i have no rubbing with 195/55 or 205/50 and i got a 1inch drop with tokicos.

Just get the correct offset.

Rolled fenders on our old cars is likely to cause problems. Rusten fender wells don't like to be puched and the paint might crack. Also, the fender will collect more dirt like this.

thats funny that you guys mentioned that. I used a white crayon to actually see if the fenders rubbed...two days later and the crayon marks are still in tact. It LOOKS so close tho!!! I just wonder what would happen if i get 3 people in the back seat...hmmm?

I just got new 205/55/15s and they are only about 1/8-3/16" to wide on each side. Even w/ my 1.6" drop these only rub during hard turns or huge bumps. I wouldn't think that 195s would rub much, if at all. I do think that the 55s ride (and look) better than my old 50s.
By the way... does anybody know how to figure how far off the speedometer is with a given dia. of tire?

yeah, I had 195/50's before and they rode pretty rough. It's all good tho. I'm sure the progressive rate on the springs help alot with no-rub...I can just imagine rolling stock with such small clearance.

i guess i shoulda read up on this forum before gettin my rims, i have 215/50/16s on a 3 in. drop and they rub like a mongolian on a donut

I didn't use a bat. I used a hammer. I took off the tires, jacked the car up, and very carefully bent the lip perfectly parallel with the outside. (now there's just like an edge, say 1/8" thick) Here's one of my old pics..look at how close the back tires are, they stick out as far a they can while still fitting. (I can go over speed bumps with people in the back and it doesn't hit).

I just finished rolling my rear fenders. I used a wire wheel to take off the factory undercoating around the lip. After I rolled it up I filled the space behind the lip with silicone caulk. I than undercoated the entire fender area again. I think that this will prevent any problems with rust and it looks fairly original, even if you could see behind the fender.

okay people. I have a buddy with 22's on his car. and its lowered. You DO NOT need to roll your fenders. If you do you have aproblem with your camber, and you need to buy a kit. My car is lowered 3 inch's and it has never rubed once.

yeah...good to know...but keep in mind that every rim is not the same. Rolling fenders is not a bad thing!

first off im sure 22's arent on the accord, and it they are he must have pulled all 4 fenders. lol

i understand what u mean about being lowered 3" cause i have had my car totaly dumped before, and never rubbed, BUT camber will normally prevent rubbage. on my 240sx i have to have negative camber to keep my tires from rubbing. if you have camber from lowering your car ,it should pitch the wheels inwards, which would allow the tires to clear the fenders. of course you may run into other clearance issues, but camber will help avoid tires rubbing on fenders and fenderwells....
