ok all bs aside, i bought those size rims from this guy for a very low price. but when i hit a dip in the road. i hear them rub. so is there any i can do to counter this effect. or do i need to just put them up for sale?

ok, well what the hell is the rubbing about. i saw somewhere that it should not be 2mm over/under 40.

well the 205 width is fine, so maybe the 45 offset is a bit too much. i know most people around here have something in the neighborhood of 40-42mm offset

so i should be able to just get new tires right. i could put a smaller offset tire on that same rim is that correct?

Jerren, sounds like your saying you know the rims have are 40mm offset. BTW, they are usually stamped on the inside of the wheel with the offset number.

Well let's say for the sake of argument they are 40mm offset. This is a discription of what would be happening. The extra height of the 45 series tire is just enough that when your suspension compresses fully, the tire is tall enough that is contacts the fender, whereas the lower/shorter 40 series tire manages to stay clear of the fender, simply because it is not tall enough to do so. And if your running rims that are less than 40mm offset this problem would be compounded by the tire being further out towards that fender lip.

Are they rubbing on the fender lip?

If so would rolling your fenders give you enough clearence to solve the problem?

sounds like the only thing it could be rubbing on is the inner fender lip, what you will probably have to do is trim that off. If you feel inside the rear lip you can feel it, more than likely it is the back not the front....the front has quite a bit more clearance than the rear. Peace

i'm not really sure what the offset of the rim is. but i'll go check it out. but i "think" the tire is rubbing the inner most part of wheel well. like its rubbing the wishbone or something. and i do have no suspension mods either.

ok guys i got this thing fixed. i went and got my shiny tpx (aluminum baseball bat for those who dont know) and went to work on my fender well. click here . this actually turned out to be one of the best how-to's that i ever encountered. it took the rubbing out i think. i only drove about 5 miles to test it. so when i hit the high way i'll let you guys know. but i think its all good now.

btw, when i did this, there was mas rust under the lip guard thingy. so that sucked. and if you do decide to do this you can't put the gaurd back on because the lip has been peeled back. i'm thinking that a rubber one like on the integras would fit if i modify it a bit.
