    Ignition wire clamps

    Hello everyone!

Since I am trying to get my car back to its factory (aka mint) form, I want to replace the wire and cable clamps on the engine. One of these clamps seems rather enigmatic. It is shown in the following diagram:

The part in question is #9. My car didn't even have this clamp when I got it so I'm not sure of its function. I'm also a bit confused about how it would be mounted to the little metal tab on the valve cover. If anyone has this clamp on their car, please explain.
In my search I also came across a second type of clamp that seems to have been used on some Accords. It is shown in the following picture:

Parts #5 and 6 seems to be part of the clamp. Apparently this one secures the ignition wires in place. Which one of these two clamps should be used on my car (1989 Accord LX 5-speed)?

    Thanks in advance.
    3axap.

that part #9 i THINK is used to hold the clutch cable away from the valve cover and anything hot. you're right about #5, #6 they help secure the plug wires from sagging toward the exhaust manifold...they arent critical to have, but its nice to have them just in case.

My lx-i doesn't have that first loom, part # 9, but it does have the 2nd. The part on the #9 is probably for the clutch cable but it isnt neccessary since it is mounted on the stud closest to the distributer also. I would use the 2nd wire holder since it looks cleaner since it doesn't have the unneccessary part on it but it is still stock.
