I have a 1986 Honda Accord Lxi. I was on the freeway at about 65mph when all of a sudden the revs shot up an the car had no power. Pressed the gas just reved high not going anywhere. Managed to pull over and then once the engine was turned off the starter works but the car wont start. Engine wont turn over. Could the timing belt have broken? Any suggestions on what it may be? Thanks any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

automatic or manual transmission? sounds like something with your drivetrain to me.
if the timing belt had broken the engine would have just shut off, it wouldn't of reved high.
and when you say the engine won't turn over do you mean it won't crank? or do you mean it just won't start? what have you checked so far? are you getting spark, are you getting fuel, are you getting any codes?
