    Question High idle

1987 accord. I have seen this problem here and other places. High idle will not pull off until car is completly warm and choke is open all the way. When accelerator is depressed quickly idle will drop to about 1500 but will climb again if slowly depressed. Car also acts as if it is cold even when warm and has same symptoms but takes shorter time to reach normal idle. Has anyone had this problem and fixed it? It is driving me nuts.

Check the coolant level just to be sure... also you could have a vacuum leak... and reset your idle screws again after the car has fully warmed up if it doesn't go away.

BTW what is your fast cold idle speed? 3,000 4,000?

    High Idle

3000 and coolant level is fine. I guess this is a common problem on older Hondas. I talked to a Honda fanatic and even he just learns to live with it. Gave good tips to troubleshoot but had no easy answer. Thanks for your reply. I would appreciate any input from others also.
