Tricks in getting Crankshaft Pully out?

I've searched but didn't find the info I'm looking for.

I got the crankshaft bolt off yesterday (not as hard as I thought it would be). The pully is not budging. Do I need a special tool (pully puller type tool) or should it just slide off? I tried some WD40 to try and penetrate in, but it's still not moving

    Maybe I need more muscle?

The pulley should slide off easily. It's a slip fit with a small key. Try some WD40 and let it set for a few minutes. You may have to use a rubber hammer if the pulley is rusted on. If you have to use a puller, be sure to use the pulley bolt or something else to protect the crankshaft threads or they can get damaged from the puller. Good luck.

try to wedge something between the block and the pully base and pry it out, but wd40 soaked and rubber mallet impact will free up the rust/oil freeze.

I'll try some PB blaster and a rubber mallett before I go buy/rent a puller - thanks all!
