do you have a stereo with an amp? if you do check your power wire, it might have gotten grounded. Also make sure the posts on the battery are clean and have a good connection on the battery connectors.

I've had many faulty batteries, mostly diehards, but that could have been it.

If the only thing you changed was the battery and then the next morning it was dead, it was probably the battery or the connections to it being corroded or broken. If you are replacing the battery because the prior one was dead, then you need a battery charger b/c until you fix this draining probelm you will be dealing with many dead batteries.
If you explain your problem fully we will be able to help, if not, we can't help.
About the mechanic, yes maybe a light is draining the battery but it is not likely one light bulb on all night would fully drain a new battery. I have done that many times with old batteries and they started slow in the morning, but never died. Then again if it was -20 outside with the light on, that could have killed the thing. There is too many variables before you completely explain what is wrong with your car.

well here we are 2 weeks later 2 mechanics and I still cannot find the problem I have drained 2 optima batteries I tested all the fuses with a voltohmeter seems fine mechanic did same thing. The thing is the voltohmeter dropped drastically when we unpluged the power to the alternator My mechanic said though that a voltohmeter could be 2 sensitive? what do you guys think? Is a voltohmeter that sensitive he said he wasn't sure how accurate the reading was He suggested I go see a electrical specialist$$$$$$$$

Typically, when you unplug the battery cable, the car should stay running. If it doesn't, your alternator is bad. That is not a good method of testing the alternator with cars that have an ECU, it could ruin the ECU, but normally would indicate a bad alternator.

Yeah, be surprised what a simple little 6/12 volt test light can do. Go dad..

That reminds me of a problem I had. That stupid light bezel that goes around the light caught my bumper frame & drained my battery too. I had just enough juice to push start it in 2ng gear.
