well you unclip the 5 clips thjat go around the lid of the air cleaner box. unscrew the two 10mm nuts. take out the two metal washers, and remove the rubber grommets.

now place the lid back onto the air cleaner but do it the wrong way, so that the bottom of the lid is facing upwards.

stick the rubber grommets back on the lid... install the metal washers (you may not need them) then tighten the lid back onto the air cleaner with the 10mm nuts.

it's plastic and it clips right in front of the air box opening... its near the bottom left hand corner of the air filter.

you don't need to worry about it much if you have the lid flipped

but shouldnt u not remove that if u dont have the lid fliped? it does hold the filter in place and keep it from sliding around, right? i know whne u flip the lid the filter is holded down by the lid
