Put 16's or 17's on your car only.

I'm just giving some advice for people who dont have wheels yet. Get 16's or 17's. I've lowered my car 2 different times, I have camber kits, etc. 18's are too big. IF you lower it, stick with 1.5" - 2.25". Get an alignment, and camber kti for the front. If you don't then tires will not be even. I'd say 2" - 2.25", for 16's, and 1.5" - 1.75" for 17's.

just wondering why you think you can go lower on 16's and not 17's? why would it matter the size of rim you have? as long as you have 205/40-17 tires than you overall height of the tire are the same as stock.

    rims

It's easier to go lower with 16's then it is 17's. Sure you can lower the same, but your performance will change according to the rim size. I know this because I put 17's on my car once.

For those that might want to autocross their cars, 16" and 17" does not always make a good choice. For them the 15" rim/tire offten makes the most economic and competitive sense, which is why my car has 15's. BUT,.....I'd rather have the look of 16's, so if the above doesn't fit your style, they yes stick with 16's and 17's.

I have 17" and i lowered mine 1.75", and I find the ride hight to be perfect. It is noticeably lower, plus its not so low that I bottom out on every single bump.....

not sure what you mean mike......I am runnin 18's, at the moment my car is lowered 2.5" without a problem. I could actually go another inch or so and be ok, which I will probably end up doing eventually. It all depends on the offset of the wheels along with the size of tires, with 18's anything bigger than a 35 series tire will rub on the wishbone suspension.

    lowering

I would only go 1". I knew a guy with 18's on his 3G, way to big, but anyway, he lowered it an inch, and it looked ok.

You gotta go atleast 2.5" man, I have the 2.5" sprints and the wheels fill up the wheel well almost perfectly. I want my 18's to tuck tho, so I am gonna probably go another inch. Yeaaaaaahhh buddy.

Post a pick of your car on 18's with the drop, I am in the middle of debating over 17's or 18's on my 86 and I will be dropping it and doing camber kits, so I want to see what it will look like I was told a 215/35/18 would work but I wonder if a 215/30/18 would be better, any advice would be nice:poke:

    Lowering question

I lowered my car (struts/ tokico and Eibach sportsline springs) My rear tires don't fit exactly in the wheel well, so when I hit a bump sometimes my right side rear tire hits the lip of the well. I see that many of you have you cars lowered more than mine what's the deal? Do I need a camber kit to correct this????:super: :super: :poke:

I stated earlier that I dropped my car 1.75" with 17". I was rubbing on the back end quite a bit, and never knew why it was so bad. I just got new shocks put in today, and what a difference. The ride height went up a little, but no more rubbing and it handles so much better. Now I can see that I could drop it another inch at least. Damn....my old shocks were really shot.....

I don't have a digi cam so i'll have to wait for them to be processed
I'll probably drop it 1.5" Just enough for no camber kit.
    Will i need stiffer shocks?
