    Odd idling problem...

    alright heres the deal
one day i was pulling my car closer to the garage so my mom cud get in behind me.

i started the car, waited for it to idle down to 1100, and put it into drive
i pulled it up about 5 feet, and put it back into park

heres the problem. when i put it into park, it went to 1100, then shot up to 2200, then it dropped really rapidly to 1100 again. it sounds really bad

im wondering what is wrong with the car, obviously, and what needs to be replaced.

    thanks,
    -Adam

you could always check your ecu under the seat for any codes...my car is currently idling like that when its cold b/c of a bad air temperature sensor. they are easy to take out and inspect if it is the problem, they cost about $60 at autozone

bump, i think im gonna go check my ecu, see if its throwin a code

    EDIT
it is the little red box under there right
it doesnt appear to be throwing a code, but then again it was warm when i did it this time so it didnt want to idle at 2k anyway, so im gonna let it sit for a few hours and check it again

yeah just move your drivers seat forward and look underneath the back of it, remove the plastic cover to the led light and if it blinks 10 times it means your IAT(intake air temp.) sensor is bad. thats what it sounds like to me. If you need help taking it out let me know sometimes you can just clean it off and it will be fine.

no blinking at all....course when i went to see if it still did it this morning it did it about 10 times and then idled at 1800.....the engine is warm again so ill let it cool down and check if the ecu throws a code only when its cold........hell if i know.
