how do i know if i have a hitachi or tec distributor?

The tech distributer has an ignitor mounted on the front of it, you will see a chrome square with a screw on the bottom and top, that would be the ignitor cover.Originally Posted by AccordNut
Another way to tell is look at the bottom of dist. The Tec is shaped like a D and the Hitachi is round. Usually carbed engines have Hitachi and fuel injected have Tec.
also i think the TEC distributor has romen numerals on it marking which # each plug goes to. the Hitachi has no numbers or numerals marking which spark is which.
Keep it HONDA. Or at least Asian.™
