Thumbs up new pictures of custom header and CAI (56k maybe)

Custom header and 2.25" exhaust brought to you by Justin86 and CAI is a $40 eBay 94-97 Accord CAI.

dont mind the radiator overflow. Both this car and my last one were prone to SUPER rusty coolant.

here's a picture of the muffler

here's a link to a movie clip of the exhaust sound
    Right click save .mov file

the exuast is SUPER sturdy. I was impressed by how solid the header feels, yet its still pretty light. The whole new exhaust weights quite a bit less then the stock system did and the quality of the welding is solid.

Right now, inside sound level at cruising (about 3k RPM) is 105dB in the car. Outside behind the car it measures 107db at 3kRPM from about 10-12ft behind the car. Thats with only a 4" dia. magnaflow on the very end. the rest is straight pipe with no Cat.

there's a noticeable power gain over 4k. There's also a good increase in bottom end. When i took it out on the freeway, with my g/f, my friend (who weighs about 300lbs) and myself in the car, i still had pull at 55mph. Something i could hardly do with only myself in the car with the stock exhaust.

you have to cut out a larger hole in the fender where the stock intake pipe runs because the CAi is much bigger.

on the CAI, you have to cut about 2" from each piece where it joins in the middle, and then another 5 or 6" on the end so the filter can sit in the bumper.

nope. i was having a bitch of a time getting it out of the stock manifold so i just cut it off. i dont have inspections in my town so i dont have to worry about it. a bung for the EGR pipe is easy to weld on so you can use it.

lmao. i was gonna put something in there about that. I have a spare valve cover sitting on my garage floor right now being prepped for paint. You'll like the end result.

hey, if you want to take the egr pipe off, unbolt it, rotate it a quater turn counter clockwise, and then pull it out manifold side first. umm, dunno if that makes sense it's kinda hard to explain. takes some practice but once you get it it's easy to take out without removing anything.

header looks and sounds really good btw.

Yea I can weld on an EGR bung if it is needed. The exhaust needs to be redesigned a little to get better clearence but the entire system is bolt on and they will be a little quieter unless not asked for.

i usually see rusty coolant in cars that have problems with the cylinder head. maybe the gasket? i dunno. mine was rusty, but hadnt been changed with real coolant in over 3 years. now its good. man i'd like to get a header soon. do those really hurt low end power much?

The coolant can get rusty because we have a cast iron block.

That header looks really nice. It's awesome to see how good the CAI fits around the full size battery. I've been using a tiny civic battery in my car because of the integr CAI. I might just replace it with a good 5th gen Accord CAI now.

it really depends on the style you get and what mods you have done. I dont have any other motor mods to speak of besides a CAI and i feel more low end power. dunno how that correlates to real power gained, but the butt dyno says its more!
