    Thumbs up Raduis rod bushings..upgrade!

    Well I changed my strut rods bushings out.

    WOW what a difference. The steering is more precise than ever. That little hitch I felt turning from a stop is gone too. I did not make any caster adjustments at this time.

    I used the TRW replacements. I measures there durometer at about 90-92 on an "A" scale where as the old original bushings were like a 40-45.

    The new TRW bushings are very very hard. You cant deflect the material by hand at all. I think the next step up from that would be solid bushings.

    Also I went to stainless steel braided brake lines up front but so far I can't say it made much of a difference as far as feel even though my old lines were original. I made sure about a week before to adjust up my drums in the rear while I was rotating my tires out. I didnt want to make a bunch of changes and not be able to tell if it was the brake lines or not. The only thing I added was the lines, new fluid, and of course a bleed job. I use castrol gtlma or what ever its called I buy it at Pep boys.

    Adavanced auto so its that parts america website. They came with 2 bushing,washers and one sleeve in one box. So you need 2 boxes. I got the box at work Ill try and post the numbers.

    Mike, I know i picked up the Moogs from Rockauto.com and they were only 19 somethin plus shipping. they claim to be an "improved design"

    I believe the TRW's were 15 at advanceauto here in town.

    Oldblue, are those bushing black in color? The moogs are blue

    the moogs are poly... MUUUUUCH nicer than the stock rubber... if the TRW bushings turn out to be poly, that's good, too...

    I just ordered a set K9517

    They are listed as "Strut Rod Bushings" No wonder I couldn't find them under "Radius arm bushings"
    $22.89 + $5.95 Shipping

    TRW has a lifetime warranty

    Moog only has a one year warranty

    Yes they were black in color. I dont remember the price off hand sorry.

    Really made a big differance after a week of driving. car cuts in much nicer than I ever suspected it could. There no funny little power on wheel hop that i alway's blamed on stock struts and springs. I still might mess with the caster a little but I'm very happy and very surprised at the improvment.

    Not to thrilled with my Kuhomo ecxtas the fronts went to the wear bars in about 2500 miles. Thats worse than the Azenis sports and they dont grip as good.

    did you have the car aligned after bushings?

    I'm doing a half shaft on mine now and decided to to the bushings cause i feel it pull left when I accelerate. The new bushings are way harder than the originals. DId you do an alignment or did you put the rods back in without changing the adjusting sleeves? Do you think it will mess up the alignment?

    I didn't mess with the adjusting nuts but i took them out and anti-seized them up in case i do change my alignment. I have a lifetime alignment deal with firestone but there such retards there its prolly not even worth doing. I put the camber changers in there and when they saw I had 2 degress neagtive camber the guy freaked out and said I wouldnt be able to drive it They dont know how to change the caster unless I baby sat them and I doubt thats gonna happen so I might as well goto a regular owner operated shop and try my luck there. Just depends on how frisky i feel.

    Yes it did help with torque steer alot. Cant believe how much it helped really over all. Especially for how easy a job it is.

    The brake lines over all where a bust in my book. I should got em in pink to keep up with the bling bling Cali. guys.

    anyways this looks like an interesting upgrade. Does the radius rods affect caster? I thought our caster was not adjustble on our cars...



    as for ss braided lines, I think they don't make a difference in normal driving. Definitely in more heated driving but then the pads would probably heat up more before you notice much of a difference.

    When I installed my rear disc brakes and ss lines all around, i noticed a difference but I can't say they are from only the ss lines. Perhaps SS lines don't make a big difference at all.

    The length of the radius rod is what sets the caster--shortening the radius rod will increase caster. Our cars are the last Accords with this adjustment. I set mine to the maximum and appreciate the difference.

    so thats what that nut is for.. Thanks for the info mike! I definitely will look into getting new bushings and then adjusting caster.

    Well the TRW ones I need 2 boxes. Not sure about rock auto.

    IMPORTANT: Do NOT reuse the nuts that thread onto the strut rod. Mine have come loose again. I believe the honda book calls for news ones. They must have a way to lock them on. I changed the oil the other day and one was way off and the other was loose.

    how much do you all think it would run to replace all the front suspension bushings. materials only. I was lookin at mine the other day and all the salt over the years has totally destroyed them.

    I cant find the price atm but I think its under $30. The new nuts, I just added lock washer for the time being, but nylock nuts or what ever Honda sells cant be to much. Sorry I cant be more specific.
