    Kenwood vs. Audiovox

sigh....let me first say that i'm almost broke

and it takes a really long time for me to save so...here are my options

    A Kenwood KAC-629s 2 channel bridagble 350w MAX amp
    for $179CAN new

    OR

An audiovox Rampage 300w with adjustable LPF and all that neat stuff for $158CAN new

My problem is that i don't know how well audiovox performs...I know its on the lower end in the wide world of amps but could it be of any use or is it garbage

anybody had experience with either amp? any comments would help

    peace :smokin:

Don't know if this helps but I'm using a Kenwood 818 mono sub amp and I'm happy with it.

I would say try the audiovox man....if you just plan on using it for subs and nothing else the LPF will be a lifesaver and is definetly a feature worth getting, as far as quality goes of course kenwood is better but IMO the LPF is a must for running subs. Unless you go external, but that is more $$$.

I can't get into the Kenwood site for some reason. Here's some links to both for more specs:

I'd never be comfortable buying audiovox because they sell it at stores like Napa and Schucks. But I've never tried it so more power to you if you do, but I'd lean toward kenwood . Or you could always try lightning audio which is a branch of rockford fosgate and is cheap. I've always had luck with them. Done many lightning audio installs and I like the sound, especially for the money.

yeah I thought about getting a lightning audio also.....if you look on ebay they usually have some unbeatble prices on electronics, justamps.com, ikesound.com, cmttrading.com are some other places to look. But I think you are one of those non-internet shoppers right? lol

if you want i have Jensen amp. i am not using anymore, so you can have it for like $50 US Plus shipping( don't think it will be expensive), or make me an offer.
    It works great. no problems.
it is Jensen 300Watt MAX so you will be pushing like 100W at 4ohm or 150-180 at 2ohms.
I don't have manual, i bought it without manual.
so on the wattage numbers i am just guessing.
but it was pushing my 1 12"alpine type S 4ohm with out any problems.

well. its been a few weeks, i've shopped i heard i listened, and i went back and got the audiovox..all i can say is WOW. for a no name amp, it ROCKS

for $158CAN i recomned it to anyone with a tight budget such as myself

here is my system to date

    4- 6.5" 150wMax Pioneer 2ways

    2- 12" Super Q 250wMax subs
    w/ported box

    1-Kenwood KDC217s CD player

    1- Audiovox 300Wx1 or 150X2

    1- Koss 75x2 or 150x1

it totals just around $800CAN and it is a great sounding system, i know its not no top-o-line shit but its GOOD
