    More questions

First I just want to say thanks to those who have replied to my last post. That helped a lot. Please forgive me. My father never taught me anything about cars and neither has any of my boyfriends. My latest questions are these....... Someone said there were two kinds of starters for my car...... besides the shape, is there a difference?? And I'm assuming that in order to check out which one I have, I would have to put it on a rack to see underneath, right?? Also, the engine gets pretty hot which makes the hood of the car hot and when it rains, there's steam.....is that normal?? If it's not normal, what should I be checking out?? I know.....lots of questions, but in order for me to learn, I have to ask them. Thanks :-)

Well I assume the difference is in the starter housing... one for manual trans and one for Automatic trans... the actual starter motor can be removed from a manual starter case and be used in a manual starter case... this will allow you to swap a good starter motor between auto and manual.

You access the starter from the top of the car, no need to lift the car up.

As for excess heat... or overheating

    1) Check fluid levels when the engine is cool
    - Oil level
    - Radiator fluid level

    2) Check that the radiator fans turn on

    3) Check that the thermostat works

    4) Check the water pump pully belt

    5) Check the Water Pump

As for the steam when the rain hits the hood, it's normal. Every 3g I've ever been in has done it

I'm liking the accel stuff tho!

Oh, and A20A1, I think you meant to say 'taken from a manual starter case and used in an automatic starter case'...... I was confused for a second....
