Head without P&P job... (should be done tomorrow, and I'll have pics)
(notice how pitted the gasket surface is! that'll be taken care of too)

Cam seat all messed up (should be repaired by tomorrow too)

Crank balanced and resurfaced. You can see where a little metal was shaved on some of the lobes.

I'll have more pictures tomorrow, and I'll take some pictures of the new parts to be installed.
Oh yeah, and I'll be sure to get some pics of the 3 angle valve job too!

im sooooooooo in love with the dome of the head. it looks pretty damn fantastic. God it looks soo clean. Nice job dude. Also, .040 over? normally its .030 over so u better find a good piston and rings to compansate for it. But in all. It looks hot.

PS: are you getting the block (outisde) coated with ceramic paint or something? cause it looks like it will rust soon.

as far as price goes, there's a shop in town here called "Geddes Auto Machine"
the place has been in business for 24 years and offers a 3 year/unlimited mileage warranty on parts and labor. If the car's engine ever busts, they fix it, and they pay for the towing to the shop, and they pay for a rental car for me until the engine is back and running. Nice huh?

All this is costing about 1200. (my dad has taken a lot of engines to this shop, so they hooked me up too)

We decided to go with a race cam too.

So, this is all that's being done for that price:
    Bored/Honed
    Cleaned block and head
    Re-turned/resurfaced crank
    P&P
    3-angle valve job
    cam seats resurfaced
    race cam
full rebuild kit (pistons are sized correctly at 0.040 over, but all cylinders were bored to match the specific piston that's going in it)
    and assembly

And yes, I'm sticking with the CARB! I want to maybe upgrade to a weber, or maybe duel carbs from a prelude... not sure... ideas?

also, hopefully I'll be able to head over to the shop and take some more pictures this afternoon for everyone's viewing pleasure.

**edit** btw, about that smudge: I was messing around with some of the old parts, and then I went to touch the surface of the block to feel how smooth it was, and Oops!

Well, I went by the shop the other day, and I found out that the head was a might bit warped... from being overheated...

Apparently, it needed some extra help with line boring (or something). So, that's why I haven't updated pictures yet. Tomorrow or the day after I should have pics of the final product BEFORE it's assembled.

I'm extremely anxious to see this thing with its valve job and P&P! Sorry to keep everyone waiting.

about the head. you have two choices:
A20 head. you can blot up carb manifold and get weber for it. or you can make custom one and get DCOE.
A18 head. by just slapping it on A20 block you will increase compression. do some work to it and it will be nice head. the problem with A18 is that it comes with dual keihin bike carbs. that you will have to figure out on how they work or get two new ones. Stock carb manifold won't bolt up, tried it.

    A18 head

or get A18 head and autoquip or speedline inlet manifold for twin weber dcoe's, with the right headwork and big valve inlet conversion you can easily hit 180+bhp upto 200bhp if you really know what your doing.

    Sweet, thanks for the info.

And it was hot tanking, btw. Yeah, it's looks hella nice. I'd never be able to get it that clean with just degreaser and carb cleaner.

    quick update:
Well, I went to the shop on thursday to take pics and hopefully pic up the completed engine...

Unfortunately, the head has some hairline fractures in it!!!

So now I have to go find a decent head... any idea how much honda would charge for one?

I'm thinking about just parking my car for a few days and using the head that's on the current motor... oi... sorry for the delay.
