    SpeedySweetie's 3G Racecar! (Part 1)

Hey all, thought my fellow 3Geez lovers might want to see my "finished product"! I finally got my 89 Accord Lxi circle track racecar done! It took 5 months and a tons of mods, but here she is! The mods are numerous, but among them are a header (Gude Bullfrog), a CAI, 6 point roll cage, full suspension mod, full race interior and more! For more pix, visit my site at www.2chixracing.com. My teammate, Taja, also has a 3Geez Accord racecar!

    Here's the goods:

We may have to center a midwest meet around one of those events so we can see the 3Geez race... Again, welcome aboard!

    About the suspension

Thanks everybody for the nice comments! I have to give props to several of you for all the great mod ideas that I got from this site and incorporated into my ride....so many of you have given such great advice and your experience has helped make this car a definite contender!

Several have asked so here's the low down on the suspension:

I bought Drop Zone coilovers and installed them them with stock struts (the struts are brand new...thanks to my sponsor for giving me those!). I didn't get the WeaponR coils because the helper springs give you an inconsistent rate on the tester. I didn't go for the expensive adjustable struts because the rules say we aren't supposed to mod the cars at all (other than safety equipment). Well, fat chance on that (I'd be the only one with a "stock" car on the track if I didn't modify).

You all know how it takes 'lude arms to adjust camber on our cars, but they're hard to find, and the adjustable camber kits are not only expensive, they do the opposite of what I need so I opted for some hillbilly engineering. See in circle track racing, you want negative camber on the right side, and the adj. kits don't give you enough, so what we did was cut the control arm on the right, and took out about an inch, then welded it back together which gave us about 3 degrees of negative. Then we took that piece we cut out of the right side, cut the left arm and welded in the piece from the right, which gave us the positive camber we need. On the rear, it's much easier to adjust the camber. In the back, it's easy to adjust the camber just by using longer bolts (again, this is great for circle track, but for street cars, it wouldn't work because you need the opposite camber setup).

Something else we need in circle track racing is a pre-loaded sway bar. This helps plant the car in the turns. We tweaked the sway bar by installing new urethane bushings and drawing the bar up closer to the body.

Also, we bought Scion steely rims in 15" so I could use my Falken Azenis tires on this car. I had a set of Falken's from my last race car and they rocked, so I couldn't bear to part with them. I recommend the Falkens for anybody who is serious about road racing or street racing in good weather. I run a 205-50-15.

Okay, that's all the secrets I can think of right now, feel free to ask any questions, and I'll do my best to answer them!

So Scion's have the same bolt pattern. thats good news.

As for using adjustable shocks.. just paint the red ones like the stock black and keep the black plastic cones over the adjustment knob.

Circle track, not autocross... That thing would not do very well at an autox... unless there were mostly left turns.

i know this. but i dont like circle track, i think its boring, its like nascar. on the other hand, i do like autox, which is what i would want to see the 3g doing.

even though im not a circle track fan, its the first 3g i have ever seen that looks like it was built to race, so i love it!
