    nut/bolt selection

    hey

I have a Pacesetter header and i'm having a little bit of a problem with my exhaust. A couple of times the nuts have fallen off of the bolts holding the header together (where it bolts together between the block and the radiator. What kind of bolts/nuts should i be using for this? none of the one's i've tried so far have stayed on. Its really freaking loud once it gets one of the nuts off. Should i be using something like lock-tight?

I noticed that 2 of the 3 bolts that hold the 'hi-flow' cat (test pipe) onto the resonator have dissapeared as well. what kind of bolts should i use there?

    thanks for the suggestions.

how tight to you tighten them?
i never had this problem with mine and i use galvanized bolts and buts from lowes.
they don't rust and it is easy to remove them when i want to.
you can always use locktight, but i am not sure to what temp it will hold up.
    try using lock washer.

You could use loc-tite on the threads, it might help. Did the nuts come with lock-washers or are they locking nuts? If they aren't locking nuts use lock washers also.

i think they were lock nuts, but they didn't stay on. i tightened them up pretty well. not with a breaker bar or anything, but i made sure they were nice and tight. maybe too tight? i'll use lock washers and lock-tite next time (tomorrow)
