    removing power steering!

    Hey, i removed my power steering pump to make room for my turbo manifold. Now i need to know exactly what i should keep and what i can get rid of or plug so the rack and pinion still stays lubricated??? THANKS!!!!

    Well your going to need a manual rack and pinion to do it right.

    PS rack: you can just cut back some of the hoses and plug them. as long as rack has some oil in it, it will be fine.

    Manual rack, the reason manual racks are better is because they have higher turning ratio, which helps when you turn when you stop.

    And also if you decide to go without power steering you might want to have your car aligned so it will have negative caster b/c that will make it easier for you to turn without p/s.

    I think connecting the two cut hoses or tube together is the way to go so there will be less resistance when turning your wheel. This is because the oil will have a place to go instead of backing up against the plugged hose. I have not tried it either way but this is my opinion based on knowing how the steering gears are built.
