Fabricated sunfire 2.2 EFI intake to work on my accord (help though!)

Well I finally got around to doing it, its kinda ghetto looking, but for now before I show any pics or anything I need to know what the air suction hose does. You know, the funny lookin tube on the carbed engines that has an extra part of it sticking out and blocked off (I thought it was for resonation).

Now the part the host connects to, what the hell does it do? It almost looks like its attached to some coolant something or other. Is it neccesary I hook it up to the intake? Does it suck in air to that tube, or did the intake suck air out of it? Should I block it off, hook it up or just leave it open?

Well thats not quite what I was asking, it pulls and sounds much better now, there were 2 vac hoses that arent attached, they are now plugged. But what does that air suction thing do?

The Air suction sends fresh air to the catalytic converter at idle and really low RPM. This helps the cat to work a little better.

Okay, so I'm guessing it should be filtered air, not open. I hooked it up. Thanks.

I'm gonna go ahead with pics here.

This is from the rksport website I originally bought this intake from for my 2004 sunfire. Long story short I dont drive the car anymore because of all its problems. And so I pulled the intake.

I had to do some major modification to it because of the many differences. First its from a sunfire, second its FI, and 3rd the sizes for the connections are different. Ignore the caulking and duct tape, it was just to make the connection. I dont care so much what it looks like, but rather how it performs. Consider this a ghetto-fab if you like, but the top end power is so much greater. Aswell with an overall gain. We had to cut the tube size down, we got rid of 1 bend in it, so it doesnt have a loud growl like it did with the sunfire from resonation, but its louder and sounds nice. For the intake air sensor, my tube already had a hole with a rubber grommet in it, so all I did was put duct tape around the accord one to make it fit nice and snug. Works perfectly. I did however have to lose the heater piece, that comes off the manifold, but whatever.

The pics are self explanitory, and yes I do have so minor interference with the hood, but it doesnt put enough pressure on it to worry about it. I am now considering the vacuum hose removal mod, but I will have to re-caulk everything, and I dont want to yet anyways.

Sorry dont know the link off hand I'm at work right now.

I have 2 vacuum lines plugged though, both off of the air box. 1 of them, if I disconnect it, the engine sputters and dies, ,the other does nothing. What should I do with them? I dont like to plug things that are supposed to be hooked up, doesnt seem right.

Sounds like one of them is https://www.3geez.com/showthread.php?t=38108

#8 or #33, those two vacuum lines if unplugged will create a vacuum leak... they normally connect to "AIR BLEED VALVES" but you can run the carb without them, just plus the ports on the hard line with a vacuum cap.

Block it off for some reason General motors like to run coolant lines to their intake manifolds and some times throttle bodies. It is actually better to block it off that way you gont have coolant heating your intake air.

He was talking about the air suction valve, and the pre-heater hose which is no longer used cause the stock air box has the valve for the hot air intake.

As for coolant line blocking https://www.3geez.com/showthread.php?t=9985
This thread should help you but if you want to retain the fuction of the choke and other coolant operated valves and sensors you need to get a EFI thermostat housing.
