89 LXi tranny in an 86 LXi??

Hey guys, I need to know if a 5 speed from an 89 LXi is a direct bolt in replacement for the 5 speed in my 86 LXi. I see they have different tranny codes. I have a line on a pretty low milage 89 tranny that I would like to buy.

Are they the same tranny even though they have different model numbers? I just want to make perfectly sure before I drop the cash.

yes, just like the BS, BT, A20ax are all the same motor with diff codes. For all intents and purposes they're the same. Although i think there might be a slight variation in gear ratios. But that wont change how it mounts to the motor.
