    Question JDM or USD ?

I can get an a20a3 from a junk yard shipped for $625 (only 65k and 6month warr) OR a jdm a20a shipped for $685. I've read the jdm's are built better, any truth to that ?

I looked into having mine rebuilt but they want $1500-$2000 (stock),and i've got the engine out of the car !!! The one from the junk yard comes complete with manifolds, basically just yanked and shipped. I'll just have to pray the auto is still good.

    Why not check locally?

Flagstaff Auto recyclers has one listed for $299 if you wanted to make the trip over there

Around here you just head to pull a part and pull one yourself for 100 bucks

I'm on the road !!!! there are a couple hundred yards in the state, and you find the one that has it . Nice work, and thank you. I called the ones in phoenix, and locally, but didn't have squat.

that means the pistons create 150 psi of pressure in the combustion chamber. That's pretty good for a used motor.

mouchyn thanks, I didn't know what a new engine would have for compression. They did the test at about 6500 ft elevation. would that mean the pressure should increase at lower elevation ? I'm at about 3400ft.

correct. the higher you get, the lower the compression will be. i don't have to worry about that, though. i live like less than 100 ft above sea level.

JDM engines werent anything special with the 3g's. all the JDM hype only applys to the newer engines (like 90+).

NXRacer, thanks for the info. I'm headed up to flagstaff tomorrow to get my engine !!!
(thanks to Vinny) They have a $50 core charge, but I'm keeping my old block to learn on.

The JDM engines usually have less milleage. I did say "usually" beacuse there is no way to actualy tell if they have less milleage. However, the driving habits and country geographic design will make people travell smaller distances.

Just take the engine that's in the best shape.

I'm taking the engine I can get my hands on. I went to Flagstaff today and picked it up. It's cleaner than the one I took out !!! Hell, they even take the time to properly remove all wires and hoses, not a hack job. These guys are true professionals. I was surprised at how nice/informative they were. They install some type of heat tab to tell if the engine was overheated, for warranty purposes.

I don't know, but you can give them a call.(M-F) 1-800-352-8737 They are very helpful !!! They even gave me a free tire to set the engine on so it wouldn't flop around in the back of the truck .
