Exclamation stupid engine question to most but very important to me

opinion wise.....what would be a great engine to have in my car. its a SOHC 2.0l. i kinda want a dohc if poss. but im not fluent in all the engine terms here. all these B models, h22, or a20's. those things dont really make sense to me. i need to know the model my car needs and possible places known to get it cheap. thanks to all who can help. it is much appreciated and a great learning experience.

    Welcome aboard!

First off, you need to do some searching on this site; every question you asked has been answered. Check out the FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) and also use the search tool located in the bar at the top of the screen. For motor swaps, you can peruse the Engine Swaps forum where all sorts of questions have been asked and answered! Again, welcome to the site and enjoy your stay!

welcome aboard. and im glad you decided to stop by. lemme feed you in on some of the main and yet generally assumed rules.

    1. Use the SEARCH function that you find on the top of the page for anything and everything you possibly thing of.

    2. Read thru the FAQ and How-to pages to see what everyone has done.

    3. In all the sections, Especially in Technical, Performance and Suspension sections there are sticky threads, read that first. i mean READ it first.

    4. If you dont find anything you can remotely close to what you are looking for, make threads in the APPROPRIATE section.

    5. PM people, esp older members or mods to give you more of an idea.

I am not judging your forum skills here, you might have been on many, or it could be your first, but the above is how we work around here. People are very nice, esp the mods, but do not push your luck too much being a noob since i will be the very first one to crack a nut.

    TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION

The H22 will not fit without custom mounts, when i mean custom, it means you or someone you know have to make it. NO one has ever done it on this forum even tho 3 do exist in that form. Bseries (B16, B18 and B20 {crv motors}) will fit only with mounts. PRI used to make mounts for these motors to fit in our cars, but they closed down and people who have the swap on this forum, do not have access to spare ones. There are a couple doing their own mounts for these B series motors.

The JDM B20 (read about it in the engine section) is the only DOHC drop in motor for our cars and even they are scarse now. Your best best is to build up a good A20 motor, make the head flow good and then either turbo it or do a NA setup.

PS: Read about everything i have said above including the Turbo mod in the performance and especially in the Research and Development section.

NOTE: I have one request from you, i wanna see you NOT be a typical noob since you sound like someone who loves to learn. We are here to help you in any means possible as long as you make our lives easier.

Hasport is still in business, however they never made mounts kits for us.
No projects. Life consumes my time and money.
