    Matching bumpers to body color?

Since I'm picking up my parts car tomorrow theres gonna be a whole lot of work done to my 3g to make it look better. And by better I dont mean rice, I plan to keep the stock look, but modified a little:

    Front bumper:
Molded better to contour to the shapes of the car better.
Fill in license plate holder holes
Adding a small lip about 1" big, moslty around the sides by the tires
    Opening the "grill" up

    Rear bumper:
Smoothing with a possibility of a small lip if I feel the need.

Now when I searched for painting stock bumpers I came up with mostly "black" results of repainting it to be black. That would seem much easier to do because its black already and the color wont blend in with the color of the paint used. Ofcourse you can put layers of primer on too, but I havent seen any posts about matching body color to it.

As of now I have absolutely no idea what color it will be painted, though I do like the new GM Blue that the suns/cavs come with, that deep color. But GM paint is cheap, so no.

Anyways, going off topic. Has anyone painted their stock bumpers a color other than black?

if you want to match the bumper with the car, you have to repaint the whole thing if your car has the original paint. all the 3geez color codes are old and i don't think any shops will mix them anymore. i've tried and fail and yet to find a paint shop that will do it. but still, if you get the matching paint, the bumper will look off and shinier then the old body. soo yah....i would just go with black bumpers....jdm yo.

Hmm.. i would strongly recommend you to match the bumper color to the body. A black bumper on 3g makes it look very outdated! Unless the body is black of course.

Did you say updated? no if it's completely stock! yes if it's properly modified!

I just painted all my trim pieces to match the body (gold) and the match was damn close, which i thought was funny since i used GM gold, they didn't have honda gold. I'll try to get some pics up tonight. I looks a hell of a lot better. It reminds me of a 4G SE, all the molding mathces on those since its an SE.

I got acrylic enamel spray bombs mixed at the local auto store. All I did was phone in the color code and they had a can mixed up in a day or two and they cost about....$20US. 1 can was enough to do 2 bumpers and the door mouldings. In my case, the paint actually matched pretty close so I ended up spraying the rear quarter panels too when I fixed some fender rust.
