    CV Joints

Hello, I have a 87 accord, 5 speed but the passenger side half shaft is busted open. I have a 86 accord with a automatic that we use for parts. I was wondering if the shafts are the same from an automatic to a 5 speed. thanks. Chris

The passenger side half-shafts are the same. The driver side shaft is 7 mm longer for the AT.

You're right. The left sides are different. And the right sides are the same.

I've only worked much on 5 speeds Accords. The factory service manual only shows a length diference for the auto half-shaft so I'd assume that's the only differnce other than the damper on the passenger side 5 speed half-shafts.

As others have said, passenger side axle is the same, AT or MT.

The shaft seal is not a good indicator. The ID is probably the same, but the OD is probably different between the AT differential and the MT differential.
