    Trans Crapped Out

    MY TRANS IS TRASHED. I SO DRIVING TO WORK YESTERDAY, AND I WAS CHANGING GEARS (4TH TO 5TH). HEARD A CLUNK SOUND AS I LET THE CLUTCH OUT THE MOTOR DIED AND SMOKE CAME UP FROM UNDER THE HOOD... OIL ON THE GROUND I THOUGHT I THREW A ROD. THE SEENS TO BE LOOKED UP.THERE IS NOW A LEAK FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE TRANS... HAS ANYONE SEEN OR HEARD OF THIS BEFORE?

    yeah, in your case. hahahahahaha, no sorry. i am sorry for you man. if its smoke, its surely not your trans. i dont think they make that much smoke. possibility is, ur headgaske it gone. but oil on the ground???? thats a new deal i have no clue about.

    Yes. I have a 5-sp in my garage now I pulled out of a 1988 lxi
    someone used 90 weight gear oil in and the 5th gear housing blew the side out of it. So everyone use 5w30 0r 10w30 in 5-speeds.

    10-30 is what is recomended right?
