why is my ride so bumpy?

Why do I feel every single crack or bump in the road? I know it has to do with the 1' drop (thanks to eibach) and the stiffer shocks (thanks to tokico) and low profile tires (thanks do 15 inch adr rims).

My question is which is the MOST responsible for this? If I replace the strut/shock mounts will it help? What happens if I put my stock wheel/tires back on?

    Any thoughts on this?

MOST resposible i say would be the springs/struts.

sidewall size would be the next culprit. 205/50 feels stiffer than 195/55.

    I'd agree tires first.

Plus our cars never rode like caddy's really anyway. Wishbone design rides frimer that a regular Macpherson strut car. #1 reason Honda has gona back to that system. Well really #2. Its cheaper to manufacture junky strut cars then real suspensions systems.

Also the strut bearing/bushing wears out pretty quick. Its that foam piece in there I hope you put back in.

yeah...i put everything back in with the new hardware. I guess i'll give the stock wheels a try and see what happens.

Do the 88-89 accords ride better than 86-87?

I agree with Busted Blue, the shocks/springs.

Eibach makes quality springs, so I would keep them.

Tokicos are not really strong enough to control the front aftermarket springs. Members seem to tolerate Tokicos on the rear. I would suggest getting revalved bilsteins or konis to replace at least the front shocks. The Konis are discontinued, but I am currently working with Koni to complete a group buy. Here is the thread. https://www.3geez.com/showthread.php?t=42718

A lowered car will feel stiffer than the stock ride. So expect a stiffer ride, but if you upgrade at least the front shocks, you can improve your ride quality.

    Peace.

With stiffer spings and struts. Be prepared to ride like your on a roller coaster ride with-out the hills & valleys. You will feel everything on the road.

Yeah i get the experience first hand. It's tough tho...looks and performance or comfort and sanity. lol

With the tokicos ...there is very little bounce up front. A really good match. As far as getting konis or revalved bilsens, I might as well go for a 2.25 drop or something. I don't think it's worth it for a 1-inch drop. Would it really affect ride quality?

if you go with stiffer struts, you will feel even more bumps on the road.
your best choice is to switch to stock 14" rims.

The stiffer stocks CONTROL the bounce of the stiffer aftermarket springs. It only feels like a "roller coaster" if the springs are OVERPOWERING the shocks. That's why konis and revalved bilsteins are the gold standard for our cars.

I would upgrade your shocks first. Don't limit your tire or rim selection, upgrade your shocks. A lot of members here have large rims like 17" and tires with short sidewalls (205 40 R17), but don't complain of ride quality because they have konis and/or revalved bilsteins. And while some members are fine with Tokicos, others have had them die out or cause them problems, and later switched to konis/revalved bilsteins.

    Peace.

There is also a tolerance factor. Some people tolerant bumps better than others.

Getting stiffer shocks though will only make it stiffer again. When I had Koni reds in my car with stock springs, I felt more of the road but I really liked it. Anyways, if you really dont want to feel more of the bumps go back to stock ride since that is what you are used to.

Tires and rims make a huge difference. 15inch rims means there is less rubber between you and the road thus you will fell more. Stiffer springs/shocks make you feel the road more.

Go back to stock if you are unhappy. =P

my friend had some adjustable tokico struts on his 300ZX. the way it rode after adjusting them from firm to the softer setting was a noticeable difference in comfort over the roads. i'm hoping to find some adjustable ones like those. also, i know that my 13's with 175 60's would ride harder than some other 13's i had with 185 70's on them. so more side wall = softer ride. and to tell you the truth not a big difference in performance as long as your getting decent tires, not just regular ones. that's one reason i dont want to go with larger wheels. 16's are going to be the limit for me, that is if i ever decided to go that big.
