    CONQUEST:

Dodge/Plymouth Conquest are definitely one of my fav. 80's cars. 2.6L inline 4 cyl, RWD, turbo (TSi model)...mmmm... same goes for the Mitsu Starion like the black one Jackie Chan drove in the movie The Cannonball Run.

Too bad they are hard to find now let alone in good condition. I don't think they're even easily found in junk yards. Last time they were made was in '86. Louvers for these would be extremely hard to find. Unless you buy new.

Those look like DSM cars. Mitsubishi Starion is the same car right?

Sorry I don't mean to whore the thread, but yeah the Starion and Conquest were twins. Except the Conquest has the more aggressive styling for 1986. Dodge/Plymouth has had this relationship with Mitsu for years, using Mitsu parts/chassis/drivetrain and branded it their own. Like now, Dodge Stratus is the same car as the 4th gen Mitsu Eclipse underneath. Just like Eagle Talon was the same as the 2nd and 3rd gen Eclipse. Dodge Neon R/T used the Eclipse drivetrain. The first gen Neon Expresso also used a 2nd gen Eclipse drivetrain. Ever wonder, "why would someone hook up a neon?" Now you know why. Not ALL neons though, only the 1st gen Expresso and the 2nd gen R/T models. So on and so forth...

Man those are some sweet looking hatchbacks. I think I remember seeing Jackie Chan drive that red one. Nice pics. Hopefully I'll be able to come across some from those cars.

Here's what a Starion Louver would look like new:

If you can find some in the junk yard, you're lucky! Good luck man.

I personally think it LOOKS like he got $10 louvers. It doesn't quite fit, so it doesn't look right with exposed window on either side, its the kind of look that I would laugh at if I saw it driving down the street. Just my opinion though. It doesn't fit well enough to just put on because it cost $10, If you like the look, spend th emoney and buy the real ones.

louvers are for Rustang driving mullet wearing tree hugging hippies.

Conquest/Starion are the hottest car to come out of the 80s. The last year for the Conquest/Starion was 1989. They also have the least amount of electrical problems. The models that are turbo had many ECU issues up to 87, in 88 they were rectified and 89 models didn't really change except for the colors offered.

That was my whole point in looking for them in a junk yard. No the fit is not perfect but there is less than a inch gap on either side of them. And yes the price of new ones is a big issue to me. $240 is way too much to spend on something that doesn't increase the performance of the car. When summer gets here believe me they will serve their purpose.

man... back in the day I posted some louvers and got flamed all to hell. But I think that more people are feeling some love for the retro styles. If you were to paint them the same color as the car they would be hot, IMO.
Perfection is simply a matter of replacing parts.

Yeah I know. Some people like them.....some don't....I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but that is a good idea though. I think I will get them painted the same color as the car along with my side mouldings and mirrors. But we all know how old styles always come back to life again. Look at the Z3 fenders, look at the old corvettes they had them way back when.

Thanks man. I just wanted to go to a old school look. After all these cars were made in the late 80's. But I also like a lot of the newer stuff you can do to them like clear/red tails, body kits, etc...

Damn, they want $240. for a set of aluminum louvers? I might look somewhere else or buy from a member on here if anyone has em.

10 bucks is too much to spend on something that doesnt fit and looks like hammered dogshit, but that just my opinon.

If you go on the "they don't fit but serve a purpose" mantra you could have saved 6 bucks and bought a set of miniblinds from Walmart. Couldnt have looked much worse

Thats alright. I sold them on ebay. Made a $40 dollar profit + shipping. I would still get them if I found them in a junk yard.

Too bad you're not close to the Cincinnati area, there's a set in a local yard in pretty damn good shape.

Funny ass thread. Painted mini-blinds from Wal-Mart & blazin's comments. I had my laugh for the day on that one.

    Angry Re: Junk Yard Find

Man you guys just dissed the louvers...so much for the 80's it was all about pop up head lights and louvers man. I've got louvers on the 84' makes it look like Sonic the Hedgehog...painted miniblinds don't work as well. I got mine brand new off egay for $75 but they were missing the mount kit so we stapled em' on, LOL they look pretty good and the wiper still works. WhenI got another hatch from the junlyard they 85' I got it off of had another set on it but they were smashed in and I didn't want to pay another $6 for busted ones. IMO They look better on the 2Gs for some reason.
