it could be teh O2 sensor, but its hard to tell from what your saying. i didnt know the carbed engines really had a check engine light. i've just never seen it turn on in my car. since it is carbed, being you have an LX, i'd say no on the O2 sensor. it may be something more than that. an O2 sensor on the carbed engines doesnt usually make the light come on i dont think. considering i unplugged mine before an ran it just to see what would happen, nothing happened.

if you have an LX-i then the O2 sensor may be it though.

I don't really recall a check engine light in carb models.

Open the hood, check to see if the engine is still there. If it is just ignore the light!!!

the thing is, his vehicle says "87 LX Accord Sedan". maybe he just didnt put the -i on the end? i dunno, but its in the wrong section if its the LX because this is EFI Tech section.

    this is what you do.
start the car and let the engine light to come on.
after that look under the driver seat from behind. you should see small window, pop it open and count the blinks.
come back to us and tell us how many blinks it has.
    Alex.
