    Bass Flow Through

ok i've had this piece out for a while. its the part that is behind the arm rest of the back seat. its a partical board piece with fabric glued onto it. anyway, where that went i used to have a speaker there but blew it out. so its had an open hole in the back metal of the seat. lets more bass come through i found. i decided to get the partical board piece and drill vent holes through it. i tried it out, seems to let the bass through pretty good. i cut out more of the metal thats behind it when installed. i also went ahead and covered the piece with some red felt for now. so it pretty much matches, but i'll probley recover it in some black fabric, probley something thinner and more fade resistant than felt. i'll probley take a few more pix of what i did so y'all can know exactly what i did. i measured out all the places i drilled to make them evenly spaced. in the 1st pic it kinda looks like some are off, but they're not really. anyway, just something i wanted to try out.

I cut mine out completely and folded the extra carpet around the edges then added some support bars, came out made tight but I swapped the back seat for a leather unit and I'm afraid to cut it... I may copy your idea

for that idea, i wasnt feelin that too much. i had an extra one of those partical board pieces. i decided to install a 6 1/2 in speaker in there powered off an amp. now that there's more sound directed foward it sounds pretty good. my 2 rear shelf speakers are also powered by an amp. anyway, i think i may try something with the rear shelf itself. where there's kinda cut out spots in the metal part of the shelf, i may cut out where the cardboard top trim piece is. i'll probley do that if i recover the piece with vinal to match the rest of the interior. anyway, might as well try something once to see if it works out. still i did notice sound was able to travel through the holes somewhat easier than just a solid piece.

I was thinking of doing that for my subs. Cutting a hole in the back dash board where the third brake light is. Just have two holes in there and make it look nice w/ a grill or something.
