outer wheel nut size?

does anyone know the size of the nut that holds everything on? its the end nut that you skrew on the axle, i need to take it off to change my wheel bearings and my rotors. i have a 30mm but it was too small.

32 or 30mm... the ones were on my car when i did my first axle job were 32, and the ones i got when i got my new axles were 30...

its actually 1 1/4" but you can use a 32mm just fine

NO its metric but 1. 1/4" is very close. 32mm is 1.259" so 1.250" 1 1/4 is a snick tighter. I think 31mm is 1.220 but I belive 31mm is an oddball socket to find. The nuts usually hard to get off so be prepared. Air gun is your best bet.

If you dont have an air gun, then you are going to need a very long cheater bar and a big person. The key is to use leverage, stick the ratchet on with a breaker bar attached to the ratchet or stick a 4 foot long led(or something close to the same strength) pipe over your ratchet handle. From there all you can do is pull realy hard, with my old car I did a auto to 5speed swap and it a pretty big dude to get that bolt loose. Also you said you are trying to change the rotors, but that bolt dose not need to be removed in order to change the rotors. Just remove the two little screws in the rotor. He needs to remove the 32 mm nut to change out the wheel bearing. A socket (not a ratchet) with a breaker bar and a long (4-6') steel (not lead) pipe that fits over the handle of the breaker bar should take the nut right off. Have you bent the lip of the nut out of the notch in the end of the axle? PBlaster or a similar penetrant may help also.

well i need to change the rotors too. im changing my wheel bearing and going to FINALLY go to try my 5speed swap.

ok,the 32mm is too big. i dont want to round the nut. is a 31mm to small? what does the clinton manual say the real size is?

The Clinton manual says to do it manually and use a big cigar!!! "Buddum- Bump-psh"

Why not get a 1-1/4? Thats the actual size..

if its a replacement nut, it could be a different size. new axles come with new nuts and they're not always the OEM size. Sounds like you might want to try a standard size.
