TDC Flywheel Marking: "t" not "T"

I searched about this and all the posts said that the flywheel mark for TDC is a T. When my cam gear is in the TDC position, I have a little cross that isn't painted white but looks like it is cut into the surface. I assume that this is the TDC mark but wanted to know if anyone else has verified that it is for something else.

I'm probably paranoid, but I really don't want to mess up my timing.

this is on an 89 SE-i 5spd, but I doubt it is the original engine / trans.
Perfection is simply a matter of replacing parts.

TDC mark for cylinder # 1 is the "UP" when looking at the cam gear.

As long as the TDC on the gear and flywheel are the same then you're okay...

however the cut in the side of the cam gear is a TDC but it's not for cylinder #1

Take a look at this thread.... lots of pics

EDIT: oops I misread your question... I'm not sure on flywheel markings... they may be slightly different then Auto markings.

There are two marks on the flywheel. The top one is the TDC mark and mine has no paint either.
