Why not use the 88-91 generation arms, only 84-87?

What's the reason not to use the 88-91 generation arms? The how to advises against or I remember it advising against it cause it doesn't seem to now.

I measured the distance between the bolts on those and they seem to be the same as 3G not narrower like 84-87. It appears they would be a bolt on swap. No need to combine parts. So why not go with those?

Edit: Another reason to go 88-91 is that the ball joints are significantly cheaper for those $27-$33 compared to $45-$55 for 84-87.
