    Annoying clicking sound...

I have come to notice that a EXTREAMLY loud clicking sound is coming from under my hood. I did a search hoping to find a answer to my question and I found a answer, actually about thirty, and they were all different. So heres the deal: when I accelerate I hear a loud clicking sound. I have a 89', four door, automatic LX-I. I have not done any modifications under the hood and this sound is bugging me. Any clue to the problem. Thanks in advance.

can you tell maybe what general direction the sound is coming from? have you had somebody rev the engine with the hood up to see if you could tell where its coming from? Is it happening only when you're driving or when you're stopped too?

It does do it but not as loud or fast when i'm parked. I don't hear anything if say I accelerate (it clicks while i accelerate) then coast (clicking then stops) which makes me think that maybe its a engine issue. As for location I think its coming from more on the drivers side

Sounds like you need a serious valve adjustment; last one cost me about $120. Don't wait too much longer.

sounds like your CV joint(s) might be going out too. If you have your valves adjusted, see if they can check our axles too while they're at it.

Well i'm trying to get started and it couldnt be worse. I can't get the cam gear to TDC, the haynes book says and i quote "the preferred method is to turn the crankshaft with a socket and ratchet attched to the bolt threaded into the front of the crankshaft." Well this thing won't budge

make sure the car is out of gear, and remove your spark plugs.
