    Rubber Bushing from 5speed tranny

Hi well anyways its been awhile since I've stopped by here, but I still have my 89 Lx-i coupe... Ok here's the situation... I have made a past thread regarding my transmission problem btw its a 5 speed....and every gear works great except for reverse which just keeps popping out of reverse... What I did notice while looking underneith the car where the tranny is, I noticed a rubber bushing on the tranny where the two shifter rods connect to, and I noticed the rubber bushing a little torn up, and I have a gut feeling that may have to do with reverse popping out of gear... if anyone has any info please let me know asap, thanks guy's later.

those bushings are quite cheap, it might be worth it just to replace it anyways. you could try rotating the torn bushing... if it makes another gear pop out you'd know that was causing it.

though, from my understanding, it tends to be an internal problem when the tranny spits the hook, as it were.

ok I am going to give the whole replacing the bushing a try... now I'm no genius when it comes to a specific name for a bushing so, is there a name for the bushing I am looking for and would it be available at autozone or napa etc... Thanks bro, and to those who reply I appreciate this in a big way... Later.

My 2004 sunfire did this with 2nd gear. It was an internal problem. Lets hope its that bushing but I would put my money on an internal problem

Well I appreciate everyones input, but I'd rather 1st try wasting a few dollars to replace the bushing 1st just to see the outcome of it, and if that doesnt work I will then do a tranny swap, like buy a new/used tranny... but more imput is welcomed if anyone has any Idea's... Thanks again guy's... Later

it'd be the shift linkage torque rod bushing... the big round one. push it out and bring it with you to honda or wherever you go to replace the part.
