Thumbs down Retarded amount of rain = water in my trunk..? Flood pictures too..

Well.... in the past 10 days we have gotten more precipitation here in Calgary then we usually do in a whole year, luckily my house had no flooding, meanwhile my moms house flooded, my sisters boyfriends' family had about 2 feet of water in their basement, and lots of my friends had problems too, its pretty nuts.

Anyways, i went to pick up my JDM spoiler yesterday... yea thats right, i got one... ... and i opened my trunk to put it in there and my spare tire well was almost full of water... I have no idea how it got in there, but it sucks... the back of the seat has a tiny bit of surface rust starting to show, which makes me think it was there for a couple days at least.

Anyone have any idea what would cause this? All of the seals around the trunk look alright to me.

Here is something on the flooding here... if you go to the top video on the section on the right side go to the first video... the damn is like less than 5 minutes from my house. http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNew...hub=TopStories

it may leak on the tail lights seal, mine leak behind the gas cap inside the trunk it may need some silicone, but we have no rain here. so iam lazy.

try tightening the 8mm bolts on tails or use silicone too.

you probably have a leak in your trunk. either the seal or the taillights. pretty typical for almost all hondas.

    NO......NO.......NO..........NO............
    DO NOT USE SILICONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Silicone reacts with the metal, it will cause rust to occur 100 times faster than normal. And god knows....we don't need any accelerant for rust in the rear of our cars.
Use a URETHANE based adhesive, or, bedding compound, commonly used in auto glass shops.
But whatever you do, PLEASE DO NOT USE SILICONE!!!!

Yeah more than likely it's your taillights seals...or what's left of them anyway. They used to be rubber but on an old 3gee they should look pretty much like crap and brittle. Don't mess around with silicone. You can go to the honda dealer and buy new rubber seals, or do what I did. I traced the old taillight seals onto a new sheet of 1/8" thick rubber then cut new ones out. Works perfect and cheap too. Don't ask me where I got the rubber sheets from, I just happened to have some laying in my garage somewhere. I'm sure you can find some at Home Depot or something.

Maybe the part of the body just below the rear window where the trunk seal is attached, is rusted. I tried that and it caused the water to seep right in.

There is no rust in that area, im thinking the taillights are most likely the cause of this problem now.
