    Debating Ground controls....

I have decided I need to go lower... well I don't need to, but it would be nice.

Anyways... I was able to get some Koni's for the front, but only Tokico blues for the rear... which would be fine with my H&r's... but I'm skeptical with ground controls.

I dont want my car to ride like shit, and I plan to track it in the near future.

ground controls coil overs ride pretty well. they are softer than most other coil overs, so the ride won't be too rough.
    87 hatch (stolen)

88 lxi 4dr, 5spd, threw a rod... in process of swapping engine from my 87 hatch (police recovered what was left of the car).

the fucker that sold me the 88 is lucky he lives 500 miles from me...

i am running this exact setup..

let me tell you its pretty good, but i wish it were stiffer.

my 240 has hella stiff suspension 6k/8k and stll rides good...

stock ground controls are pretty soft, 350lbs front 250lbs rear i think... at one point i had shortened revalved biltstiens on the car, and it rode like total shit cause it was too low.

but my car rides ok. im considering rebuilding my konis with more agressive valving and external adjustability like jim used to suggest...but its too much money...

but for the rear i dont know what my options are, other than revalved biltsiens...

but i wouldnt discourage you from running this setup. its not really bouncy, its firm, and unless your bombing along dirt roads it feels great.

ill probably keep the setup like this until something blows and ill go all out with matched modded bilstiens.

oh HELL YES, especially compared to a stock 3g, i used to hate driving ambers car by comparison! thing would just TIIIIIIP and it felt like it would roll lol.

i still want to get some bushings replaced and fatty sway bars, maybe get some off throttle oversteer action!

im not really familier with suspension and whatnot as the dragsters iv been working on for the past 16 years dont have any, ahaha so my question becomes, what would you have to do to our cars to get that little oversteer action, which can be fun, lol

lol a good start would be to stiffen up the rear spring rate, some people do with by switching front and rear springs (of coilovers, where the springs are the same basic size, with different tension rates), but this can throw off the handling because the front being softer can effect how crisp handling feels. anyway, increasing rear spring rate, relative to the front will help, and a larger diameter rear sway bar (again, in relation to the front) will help induce oversteer a little bit...

keep in mind its not like rwd by any means, but the car will rotate a bit, and you can control it by throttle modulation, usually when u let off it will start to break the rear out, and when u plant the gas it will catch and continue to understeer

ps im not an expert, this is just what iv'e experienced / gatherered from reading.

From experience from driving cars with different spring rates (mainly an integra since half my friends own one. )

A car will need different spring rates for different applications (obviously). Increasing rear spring rates will increas how well the car instantly turns or the response of the turn-in. Rear sway bars also create this effect. This type of application where the rear is stiffer for a FWD is ideal for autocross. Small sharp low speed corners require instant response.

There are other situations where the front should be stiffer. In mountain roads were turns have banks that doesn't take as much of a toll on the tires require more stability over bumps than instant response. Turns aren't as sharp and the road isn't even. From my experience front stiffer than rear feels less twitchy as well as more stable in turns. If there is a desire to get more of that instant response, a sway bar can be added to simulate it.

From my own little experience of knowledge.

Busted blue nailed it, if you want a good handling car but dont want a harsh ride, go all out and buy the biggest sway bars you can get and match them with some slightly stiffer than stock springs and your set.
