    Well you could unhook your front bar totally and just run on the rear and try it. I say it would want to come around on you so try it it an empty parking lot around some light polls before you get out on the street with it.

    I would have to find a vigor bar 1st and its smaller than the addco which I already have on the car and I believe that i can make work. The vigor is also smaller and I have more under steer than i want.

    Re: Sway bars

    That's the addco rear bar Messy?

    Just from the pics posted earlier it looks like the addco bars mount BEHIND the rear wheels, while the stock bars seem to be mounted just in front of the rear wheels. I wonder what would happen if ya ran both sets at the same time if this is true? hehehe

    Rear Sway Bars
    ------------------
    stock
    86/87 3G = 12mm
    88/89 3G = 13mm
    4G = 14mm (I think)
    92 vigor = 16mm

    Aftermarket
    3g ST = 16mm
    Addco = 19mm
    4g ST = 22mm

    Re: Sway bars

    What are sway bars typically built from? Solid round or tubing? Carbon steel or stainless? I'm asking because my shop is borrowing a beast of a bender and I'm sure I could make a serious bar or two with it.

    So some stainless tube with a thick wall. Pinch the end, grind, drill.

    An ST rear bar is 5/8". So some 3/4" round with a 1/4" wall ought to make for something nice.

    Re: Sway bars

    Stainless is kind of weak, unless you have some 17-ph

    Most aftermarket solid bars are some kind of hardened steel, and the hollow ones are usually chromoly.

    I can get 17-4ph, have to price it out. 4140 steel isn't a problem either, again given the price is decent.

    Stainless I can simply stretch my arm out and find. The other steel grades are an order item.

    Re: Sway bars

    This weekend I got the 93 Vigor sway bar on my 86 LXi. I'm very happy with the ride. I got all parts from PullaPart. The only thing that I used though was the bar and the rubber bushings and clamp. The end links on the Vigor bar were shorter than my originals so I used them. I may try and swap out to the 1 inch shorter end link, but I'm thinking that there will be less pressure on the bar and increase the sway amount.

    The main mod was the bar mount bracket on both sides of the frame. I had to grind out the square mount hole that the clamp hooks into. I also had to grind the top of the clamp so it would fit into the bracket. I first tried using the Vigor frame mount brackets leaving one mount bolt out but the bar and bushing would not clear the rear arm. Thanks for the swap info. Next I was thinking about swapping out to Integra rear coils but the thing handles great right now and I'm just going to enjoy it.
