    $5000 for engine swap?

So I have finally saved up $5000 for an engine swap and was wondering which one I should go with. I want to make about 250hp if possiable but would be happy with a little over 200hp

    H22A(200hp)-- 2500 motor/wiring harness/ecu/axles/trans/etc
    500 custom motor mounts
    2000 install
    5000 total

    or a b- engine

    b18 or b20 or b20 vtec

When posting if you could list the cost of the items to build the b- engine, cost of engine, and rough estimate on the cost to install.

b18 with a b16 vtec head...get a slight bore out of the block and run a lil higher compression with v-tec and some simple bolt-ons such as exhaust, cams, lightweight pulleys and an intake and u will be seeing 200...price all depends on what u want for a name...good luck...

it's not as easy as that....youre talkin about a bseries in a CA. no one makes any swap accessories for these cars. and good luck finding a shop that will spend time fabricating everything.

get a b20a with that money if you can find one, don't waste your time goin vtec and all that crap.
    3geez for life.

$5000 is not near enough for the swap. plus how do you expect to gain 250hp just from the swap. you will need even more money to get to that goal.

this is what i recomend. take this money. rebuild your A20A motor to handle 15psi of boost, add stand alone menagement system and tune it. but even if you go with turbo, $5000 is about half of what you will need.

I know this is a rather odd pull up of an old thread, but........CT........I know of a shop in our area that will do it. Been talking to a motor head that changes my clutches on ll my cars when I need it, and he says he will do it for me. Just depends on the application.

If you already are accounting for the axles and the mounts, where the hell does the $2k install cost come from? I say get an h22. People will probably disagree, but I don't care. The h22 is powerful, more torquey, and heavier than the b series, but not the a20. Thus providing weight over the drive wheels upon acceleration, unlike the b series, which is at home in a crx. Or my car, soon enough..
